KAN (Know and Network): Women in IT

MyStory

Read Stories

Do you have a story to share?

We want to collect stories from women about their experiences of networking or the lack of networking. Has networking benefited you in getting on and getting up the slippery career ladder!! Do you feel isolated and removed from other women in IT?? Is everything happening at the Head Office miles away, are you in a rural setting, work in a SME or for yourself.

We hope to share some of your stories with others and this may encourage a debate on the issues of networking.

MyStory hopes to provide a secure area from those with networking stories to tell but there will be different options of how to get involved.

We look forward to your stories and sharing your stories with others.

Our objectives are:, to benefit some women who may currently feel isolated in their workplaces, to build a story book of shared networking experinecs, to create a secure space in which women can share and read stories.

Telling Your Story

  1. Create a blog post (see 'Security' below)
  2. Make sure you give it the 'mystory' keyword

It is possible to only share your story only with logged on members of the KAN Community or there is a completetly private option so you can decide when (or if) you want to tell your story. Alternatively if you want your story to be heard loud and clear you can go public.

To post a comment or tell a story you need to either be a KAN member or become a KAN member, go to http://www.knowandnetwork.org/_invite/register.php.

Access Levels

Each time you create a blog post (or any other type of content on KAN), you can choose the level of access you want to allow for that post (ie who can see the post):

Private
Only you can see the new post
This is a good option if you've written your story but would like to give yourself some time before publishing it.
Logged-in
Only KAN members who are logged in to the network can view the post.
Public
Anyone visiting the KAN site can view the post.
Communities...
These options (one per community of which you are a member) allow you to restrict viewing to members of your communities. Remember: you can set up your own communities and issue individual invitations to as many or as few KAN network members as you like!
